Baby's first Christmas presents

These are some Christmas presents that baby already recieved! He's not even born yet, but he's so loved! The white envelope contains a proof of purchase of baby's dream crib that is on its way to our house from his Abuelitos (grandparents in spanish) Edgar and Flor. His Tia and Tio (aunt and uncle) Anthony and Paula got him a book of manners for boys! Its so cute! Auntie April and uncle Andy got him little nikes just like cousin Lanes! And a bunch of other gifts from family! We couldnt even fit everything in the picture! We're so blessed, and we know the blessing will just continue from here as the days fly by until he gets here and after that!

We're so excited! And I just love feeling baby kick! He's active! Just like mom and dad I guess!

A bit of chrsitmas... More to come

Hello everyone! I know its been a long time since we've posted anything! But we made the mistake of not taking pictures with our own camera and we're having trouble getting them all into our hands to show you our chrsitmas adventures! But we do have some before christmas pictures to show you, that was back 2 weeks ago, so the tummy shots are outdated by now. I'm not almost 23 weeks! And I finally felt the baby move! FINALLY! We knew it was going to take a while for us, because the doctor told us that I have an anterior placenta. Which means that the baby isnt directly behind my tummy, but behind my tummy and the placenta. So there are more layers for the baby to kick through in order for me to feel him. But its ok, I finally felt him! It was amazing!

The baby got a lot fo gifts for christmas! We'll show pictures in a little while. He is already spoiled by the whole family! And I got some wonderful gifts too! Beautiful maternity clothes from Tony, he's so thoughtful! He got me things to "make me feel beautiful, even though my body is changing and sometimes making me feel not so beautiful" He's very sweet, and yes, he did make me feel beautiful in the lovely new pregnancy wardrobe!

So, the christmas pictures and stories are yet to come, but here's some!

Love you all!

More pictures

We have a secret! Who wants to know??

Well, we went for our ultrasound and it was AWESOME! We got the greatest pictures. It was the coolest experience we have had with the pregnancy so far. We saw so many cool things! Most importantly we know that our baby is developing PERFECTLY! Everything is exactly where it should be. Measurements are exactly lined up! Baby is healthy!

I know you're wondering if we got to see the sex! And the answer is....... YES! We know what we're having! Its a............................. You'll see!

We will show you all of the pictures of baby except the ones that will answer your gender questions. Your job is to tell us what the baby looks like boy or girl, only by looking at the face and body! Ok? So here are the pictures!

The rest of the pictures will come in the next post.

Next Tuesday/ 19 week update

OK, we will find out once and for all the gender of baby next Tuesday at 9:00am! We are going to a place just for lab work and ultrasound with the top of the line brand new ultrasound machine! We'll get 2-d and 3-D! So we will for sure see if we're having our baby girl or boy! So everyone, keep your eyes open for the blog on Tuesday!!
We found the nursery furniture we want also! We're going to order it very soon and then we'll paint and decorate for baby and will have lots of pictures to show! We went to babies R us last week just for fun and we cant wait to go buy all the fun things for baby!
We're praying lots about the Lord's will for our work situation after baby. Should I work, should I not? Should Gabe get more hours, or continue as we are? You know, the questions that every new parent loses sleep over. So please pray with us that the Lord's will can be done. We know the He always opens doors where he wants them. We are not worried at all. But we always want to please Him in everything we do. So we are praying for that.
We love you! These holidays would be even better if we were all together! Especially our Burgin, Hanks, Tolbert families! Gabe got to meet you all and we're left wishing for more time together! Our prayers and thoughts are with you this holiday season!
God bless you all
Love, Gabriel and Sophia (and don't forget baby too!)

18 week doctor appointment

Well, we had our long awaited doctors appointment today after the long awaited insurance coverage! It went great! It was so nice for us to be able to ask all the questions we've had for these past weeks. We didn't get to have an ultrasound though. The doctor knows that insurance companies only allow for a certain number of ultrasounds and we didn't want to waste ours too early and not be able to see the gender for sure. So we're waiting until the 20 week mark when we can tell for sure! We did get to hear the heartbeat and hear the little wiggles around in there. She made a comment about how active the baby is already. The baby didn't want the doctor to put the Doppler on it. He'd run away and squirm off so fast she couldn't barely count the heart beat! I was just thinking "Oh lord please spare me from a hyper baby like I was and Gabriel was" HAha, but I think we know what to expect! :-) We had another traumatic experience with the blood draw. Its just never a good thing with me! I am not scared of needles, its just that I HAVE NO VEINS! I was poked twice in the doctors office, and not just poked, but the needle was in and she wiggled and prodded in there with no luck! So I started feeling light headed and dizzy, then I of course, lost my lunch.... I guess that's just what I do. So they then gave up on looking, with not a drop of blood in the vile, and sent me to the hospitals laboratory. There the fun was not over! The person who draws blood all day couldn't even find a vein! She tried twice on my right arm and twice on my left and FINALLY found a vein that was giving blood. So I of course got light headed and dizzy again... and you know whats next... man! But its over! I'm so glad!!
So overall, the baby is healthy and so am I. Everything is perfect and the doctor is proud of how I've been taking care of myself. So that makes us happy!
We want to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving! We love thanksgiving and this year we have SO much to be thankful for! God has been good and will continue to be good. We love you all and wish we could all be together for the holidays, but you are in our hearts.

18 weeks and all is well!

Almost half way done! We dont have much to update, but today is turning day for week 18, and I always get excited to get one week closer to seeing our lovely baby! We have a doctors appointment tomorrow at 3, and then an ultrasound after that (hopefully). It will be a 3-D ultrasound so we can see for sure if its a boy or a girl! I have to be honest though, I know its a girl... We keep looking at the picutres, and it is just a girl, plain and simple. But we'll prove it to you all tomorrow hopefully! I'd post a picture of my growing tummy, but Gabe doesnt get this week off like many of us, so I'm home alone today. When he gets home I'll have him take a picture!
Love you all! And we'll post tomorrow with updates!

Today's Ultrasound adventure!

Well........... ITS A................................. We dont know... hehe
We went and got a great ultrasound! Good news: We have a very healthy, stong, active baby who's growing just perfectly and seems very happy insde there!
The bad news........ We still couldnt tell what the gender is! Tony is SURE that he saw boy parts, but I really do beg to differ! The nurse said she saw distinctive girl parts, then later she said, "wait... are those boy parts" Then we saw the umbilical cord between baby's legs.......... so we really dont know! And worst of all......... our scanner isnt even working so we cant put up pictures! But tomorrow we'll put them up with someone elses scanner... So, we still dont know the sex. I guess we're kinda leaning toward boy, but I really dont know... its too hard! My heart tells me its a girl. So we'll see!
We'll keep you updated! Thanks for your support!

Tomorrow we have an ultrasound at 12:30pm! We're praying so so hard that we'll be able to tell the sex of the baby! So please pray with us! We will of course let everyone know. We cant stand the wait and neither can you! So we'll let you know tomorrow hopefully!

16 weeks and a tummy to prove it!

Hi everyone, okay here you go! The long awaited tummy shot! Its growing by the minute I feel, and making every day things feel so much different. Its so fun! I can't wait until I can feel little movements in there! We have an apointment for next Friday, and we will probably have an ultrasound that day, or maybe sooner to try to determine the sex! We cant wait! Today we were spending some time organizing the craziness that has become our nursery! We have been so blessed we dont know where to put all of the blessings! But I have a very creative husband who has an eye for that stuff, thank God!

Today I opened our first little gift pack from Motherhood Maternity and smelled the little Johnsons baby lotion they put in there and I started to cry! That smell is soo wonderful I cant wait until I can smell it on our little baby instead of the little trial packet.

God is so good!

15 weeks

Hi everyone! Just a little update.. not much news, just letting you all know that baby is growing and so is my tummy! I'm getting ready to go have lunch with grandma and grandpa today with April and her precious babies! Tony is hard at work, and jealous that I get the yummy food and not him! But all is great! God is so good and is taking such great care of our growing family. You can pray for my health this week. I have had a nasty cold and flu symptoms, on top of everything else that pregnancy brings, so I am feeling a little under the weather. But we know God is in control and He takes care of everyting He gives us. We're very busy with church life lately, me with the childrens ministry and worship team, and Tony with administration and worship team! But as always, God sustains our strength! It will be so diffrent once baby comes and we slow down a little bit to take care of baby. I bet it will feel funny not being on the piano almost every week. I'll want to bring baby up there and still play every week I bet! (hey, that's a good idea!!) So we're so excited to bring a blessing into this world, its amazing!
Well, that's the update for now.... I didnt want to mention the election... but I just have to! :-) We were praying hard for the outcome of this, and it didnt go as we had hoped. But we know that God is in control and now we can just continue praying, but in a different way. We pray that God gives Obama wisdom and truth and that he can honor the Lord in his decisions. God works through all things and has good things for our country.
Well, we love you all and can I just say we CANT WAIT to find out if its a boy or a girl!! Only 3 weeks until we can know... its killing me though!
God bless you and we'll be writing more soon!

Family car!

Well, with our growing family we decided it was time for a bigger car. We had our little old corolla that we loved, but squeezing all of our things and a baby in there was going to be a challenge! So we went and made our first purchase for the new family. A new Honda Element! Its super! It will be big enough for us until we have baby #3, which will be a few years from now. But we love so much about it that its more rugged and we can enjoy our outdoor lifestyle with our bikes and gear etc, not to mention the plethora of musical instruments that we cart around! So here's a picture from Honda's website, because Tony has the camera with him at work today. More to come!

First shirt!

Here's baby's onesie that we're ordering! I just love it!

13 weeks!!

Hi Hello everyone! Today is our 13 week mark! Our baby is the size of a peach! Baby has grown so much so fast! Its amazing! Today was going to be our second pre-natal visit, but there are some things with insurance that are STILL getting in order! Man! So now we have to wait until next Tuesday! But we've had a great past 2 weeks. We went to the beach house with the Burgin family 2 weeks ago, and had such a great time! I cant wait until we can take baby there and show baby all about mommy's favorite place! There are pictures of that posted above. Also, my wonderful husband brought me roses for our 4 month anniversary. A wonderful friend from Warner Pacific gave us some wonderful things for baby! Some beautiful things that we were planning on buying for baby, but God takes such good care of His children. We already have almost all of the baby furniture and "appliances" we will need, and we haven't purchased any of it! We're so blessed. My tummy sure is growing! I don't fit into any of my normal clothes! But its fun going to maternity stores. I've always thought maternity clothes are so cute, so now I get to wear some. Not 100% maternity clothes yet, but am definitely growing fast! The funny part is, I've lost 6 pounds! So parts of my old clothes are loose, and only one part of my body is growing! My tummy, because of our little peach! Tummy pictures are coming this week!

Our car's starter went out last week. So that is not fun at all! Its a good thing we already had decided its time for a little bigger car. Our little old corolla is pretty teenie, and getting kinda tired! So we're in the process of moving on up to a more "car seat" friendly car. Not to mention our bikes and instruments that we are always hauling around! So be praying for that.

So, that's the update for now! More to come of course! Thanks everyone for your great support!

Love,

Gabriel and Sophia

First baby things!

Here are pictures of out first baby things! Yesterday we put together the bassinet that a couple from our church bought us. (the church is obviously very excited!) And this is a picture of it. We love it because its a play yard, a bassinet, and a changing table all in one. And when baby gets bigger, we'll take off the bassinet insert, and its a play yard! So we're blessed to have it! And its organic cotton! :-) The other picture is of me and the first onesie we bought for baby! Its teenie! I love it, just thinking about our little baby fitting in there is mind blowing! So enjoy the pictures!

We love you all, and wish you were all here with us!

9 weeks and counting

Well, we don't have much to update for you all, but tomorrow marks 9 weeks and all is well. The symptoms are definitely constantly reminding me that I'm building a baby. I'm becoming great friends with ginger, tea and crackers. :-) But at least I have a great husband who is more than willing to make a dinner and fold some laundry for me. He's a blessing. Gabriel is working hard interpreting and I'm nannying 3 days a week, we're very happy o be entering week 9. Time has already flown by, which makes us excited that if the first weeks have flown, the last ones can too! We'll see. And by the way, we have some names picked out.... but its a secret! :-) Maybe later we'll give you all a hint.
Well, we love you all and are so happy that we can blog to keep us all together through technology! We miss and love those of you who are so far away!
We'll keep you posted on the newest details to come.

Ultrasound #1

Well, we went for our first ultrasound on Friday, and got such good pictures! Here they are, I hope they make sense to you. Picture number one is just a basic picture of "baby" even though it doesnt look so much like a baby yet. Picture 2 is of the baby's spine, so cute! And picture 3 is of the umbilical cord going from me to the baby, it was so cool! We go to see the blood flow in it, and see the little heart beating! So fun! And yes, its just one baby, not twins. Kind of a relief, kind of not, but God knows best! So enjoy the pictures!

First Doctor's Visit

Hey everyone!
Tony here, so we just wrapped up our first doctor's visit. We absolutely love our Doctor, she is very kind, caring and realistic with all that concerns the pregnancy. We had a little scare though, Sophia needed to get 3 samples of blood drawn. After the blood was drawn, she turned very pale and started feeling pretty sick. Before we knew it, our Doc. rushed back into the room just in time for....hhhmmmm how do I say this......well, let's just say Burger King looks a lot better BEFORE it's chewed up. It was a little scary for us, but everything turned out to be ok. Soph is fine and it was just a little too much for her. Sadly, we did not have our first ultrasound today, as anticipated, but we will tomorrow (Wednesday). As you all know, there is a strong possibility, due to my background, for twins. So tomorrow, we will hear either, one, or two....or God knows how many heart beats!!!
(As a side note, I had such a hard time not translating everything that was being said into Spanish, since every other time I'm in a clinic it is to interpret.)
Anyway, we're stoked! There's no other word for it, we're estatic and know that God's plan for our family is so much greater than we could ever ask or even imagine.
Well, that's all from me for now. Tomorrow, we'll let you know how many little Nunez's will be running around next April!

Much love,
Tony...or Gabe to some of you. haha

Our blog!

We are so excited to announce our new baby on the way! We are 7 weeks and 6 days pregnant now, and so blessed to see God's hand in our family. We'll be updating at least weekly, if not more. Our families are spread all over this big world in almost every continent, so this is the best way to keep all of us updated on our first baby, grandbaby #1 for the Nunez's, Grandbaby #3 for the Burgins, and Great grandbaby #5 for grandma and grandpa Burgin. How exciting! Thanks for stopping by!
