A couple cute pictures

Gabriel is doing so well! He's eating perfectly, about every 2-4 hours. Sleeping like a king! At night he sleeps for 4 hours straight, then wakes up, not even crying, just talking, eats, gets changed, and goes right back to sleep for another 4 hours! He's fantastic! We're so blessed! We're having a lot of fun! Last night we took Gabriel out to his first jazz concert. He did beautifully!

Even more

The grandma's and aunt, listening in on the delivery! Against the rules, they were getting worried cause it was so quiet. They all thought I was going to have a C section cause I must not have been pushing cause it was so quiet! haha
You can see how big Gabriel's coming home outfit is. Its the smallest size, but he just swims in it!

Gabriel Antonio Nunez Jr.

Gabriel Antonio Nunez Jr. arrived April 19th, at 2:13am, weighing 6lbs 12oz, 19in long. He is absolutely perfect!

He was induced due to lack of fetal movement. He was just not moving enough ever since 3 days before. The hospital ran a bunch of tests, and everything came back, mostly perfect, but the baby just wasnt moving. So they decided to induce me. We were exactly 38 weeks along, and that is a whole week past offically "full term" So the doctor felt good about inducing, rather than waiting it out.

So monday at 12:00pm we left our house to go have our last date before baby, and to grab our bags. We came back at 2:00pm, they started the first medication called Cervidil. It is used to soften the cervix, before they can start contaractions to open it. They need to make it "favorable" So the cervivil was inserted at 2:30pm and from there, we had to wait exactly 12 hours in order for them to start the next medication, called pitocin. The pitocin was started at 2:30 am on Tuesday, and I could immediately feel it working. The contractions began and I knew that it was baby time! I tried to sleep through the rest of the night, but it was very hard, since I was having regualr contractions! Later Tuesday morning, the contractions got stronger, and I felt like getting up and walking to find some relief and use gravity to our advantage. (keep in mind that at this point I was still not using any pain medication) We went on walk around 12:45, and as our walk was coming to an end, I did a few stretches and squats and right then and there, my water broke! I was SO suprised, I was expecting them to have to break it, but it brok by itself! The baby wanted out! So after that, things really sped up and it was just a matter of time until Gabriel came! So we kept walking, and pacing, and resting, and eventually, when the contartcations were 2 minutes apart, I asked for an IV pain reliever. It worked pretty well, but after that, when the contractions were a minute and a half apart, I asked for an epidural. I was only 2cm at this point, but after more than 24 hours of pain, I was READY! But I asked the doctor so nicely and calmy, she didnt take me seriously. I was staying so calm and trying to stay composed with nice manners during all of labor. I never screamed, shouted, cried, or hit anyone, I just stayed calm and asked people not to talk to me during contractions. So since I was so calm, the doctor didnt take me seriously when I said, "Do you think we could talk to the anestesiologist about an epidural?" So she came back and said, "Lets wait one more hour" And then I finally got a little worked up and said, "Lets not, please" So that was around 9:30pm on Tuesday. As soon as I got the epidural, which didnt hurt AT ALL, I fell asleep for the first time since Sunday night! So I slept like a rock, and at about 11:30 Tuesday night, the nurse came in and noticed that the baby was under a little bit of stress in the monitor, and she checked me and said "OH! You're fully dialted and effaced and baby's head is right there! Its baby time!" So she called my doctor in from her house, and the fun began! I pushed starting at 12:00am, it took me 2 hours to pass his head. It was rather easy, somehow, I even fell asleep during contractions and pushes.... After his head passed, it took my 3 more pushes and we had our Gabriel at 2:13am. He was absolutely perfect, daddy cut his cord and he nursed right away. It was a true dream! The doctor said, "you make that look easy, I hope you have more babies, you're born to birth!" So that was very encouraging!

We stayed in the hospital until Friday morning, and everything was just perfect. His tests were all normal, and he's just perfect!

Here are some pictures of the first days:

Latest update!

Hi Everyone! We're half way through week 37 and everything is great! We had a doctors appointment yesterday and found out that everything is progressing quite well! And progressing faster than we thought! I'm almost dilated to 1 cm and am effacing steadily! I'm having contractions here and there and lots of things going on in my body! We're very excited! The doctor said that its possible that our appointment next week could very easily be our last one! So we're so so happy to hear that! The nursery is done and everything is in place! We'll post pictures tomorrow, our camera ran out of batteries AGAIN! AH!
Today was my last day of work until after baby! I'm so excited to get to have such a nice maternity leave. I'll probably go back to work 4 weeks after baby comes! And my job is so great, I'll get to take him with me! So I am very thankful!
We'll keep our updates coming, and hopefully soon we'll get to post pictures of our little man!
